Connie Kay Johnson, age 76, of Crown City died January 11,2024 at her daughter’s residence. She was born in Gallia County, on October 14, 1947 to the late Amel Edgar Waugh and Lyla Beatrice Beaver Waugh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her brothers, John Lee Waugh, Harlan Waugh, Gene Waugh, Amel Waugh and Bill Waugh; sisters, Inez McGuire and Mary Lou Curry; brother in laws, Robert Johnson and Hollis Mooney and by her sister in laws, Loretta Swain and Inez Stocker.

Connie retired as a teacher from the Gallia County Local Schools after many years of service. She was a member of the Gallia County Retired Teachers Association, Gallia County Senior Citizens, which she enjoyed traveling with, and she attended the Crown City Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Monroe Johnson of Crown City; children, Todd (Barbie) Johnson of Bidwell and Malynda (Jonathan) Johnson of Crown City; grandchildren, Corey (Haley) Small, Tyler Crilow, Lesley (Corey) Short, Kayla (Dallas) Moss, Kelly Johnson, and Chase Johnson; great grandchildren, Marley Moss, Evelyn Small, Noah Moss, Luke Crilow, Layton Crilow, Kaitlin Crilow and Savanna Crilow; brother, Merrill (Della Mae) Waugh of Crown City; sisters, Karen (Dean) Brownell of Gallipolis, Fern Mooney of Gallipolis and Bea Johnson of Crown City; and by her sister in laws, Agnes (Dave) Frazee of Florida and Gloria (Dean) Evans.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday January 15, 2024 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Jacob Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the King Chapel Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 PM. till 8:00 PM.
