Walter was born on March 27, 1941 in Plainfield, New Jersey, son of the late Walter Obley, Sr. and Ann Cole Obley. Walter was a retired supervisor for National Starch and Chemical Company in Plainfield. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing, and he had a love for playing baseball. Walter is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joanne Kenny Obley of Gallipolis; one son, Donald (Helena) Obley of Phillipsburg, New Jersey; one daughter, Karen (Charlie) Wood of Mercerville, Ohio; stepson, James Barnes of Danielsville, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Thomas, Emma, Anna, and Vincent Obley, Donald Obley, Jr., Brittany (Joe) Johnson, and Andrew (Abby) Wood; step granddaughter, Katrina Barnes; and two great granddaughters, Ellie and Sydna Johnson. In accordance with the family's wishes, there will not be a local funeral service.
