James D. Hilton, 78, of Lucasville, Ohio, formerly of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at SOMC Hospice.

Born on October 17, 1946 in Marietta, Ohio, Jim was the son of the late Hoy and Nell Hilton. Jim married Bonita Soisson Hilton, who survives him in Lucasville, Ohio. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Rio Grande College and was an educator. Jim retired as a machinist for AEP. He was a member of Elks 107 and had played on the Elks softball team. Jim loved playing sports, hunting, and fishing and was an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed basketball. Jim and Bonita enjoyed many retirement years in Englewood, Florida with many friends.

Jim is survived by his wife, Bonita Hilton of Lucasville; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Beth Hilton of Minford, Ohio; and grandchildren, Ethan Arbaugh (Kristi) and Olivia Hilton (Nathaniel). In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty and Carolyn.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jim at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Christian Scott officiating. Friends and family may call Sunday prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to SOMC Hospice, 2201 25th Street, Portsmouth, OH 45662.
