Carl (Herman) Wilson Jr, age 66 of Racine, Ohio passed away from cancer and went to be with the Lord and Savior on Friday, May 2, 2025. He was surrounded by his family at his home. Carl was born on May 31, 1958, in Mason, West Virgina. He was the third of six children by Carl and Betty Wilson. His hobbies were truck pulls, derbies, mud running, drag racing, hunting, fishing, and mechanical work. His other hobby was talking to everyone and anyone he knew. He never knew a stranger. He had learned how to work on cars at a young age, and he became an amazing mechanic throughout his career.

He worked on the barge, M&G Towing and Amhurst, with his dad and uncle Charlie Wilson. He served for four years in the US Army, he was stationed in Fort Polk, LA and Schweinfurt, Germany. He was also a security guard in Colorado Springs, CO and Panama City, FL. He was a mechanic at local businesses in Meigs County for the last 40 years. He finished his career at Felman Production Steel Mill in New Haven, West Virgina.

Carl met the love of his life, Becky Wilson. He said they meet on the swings in seventh grade. Their first date was in the 10th grade at their homecoming dance. They were married on May 31, 1977. Their favorite things to do together were traveling and riding motorcycles. They also enjoyed going on the Memorial Day rides. They would’ve celebrated their 48th anniversary on May 31, 2025. It was a marriage of love and laughter, and he was always singing.

He was a father of three wonderful children: Carl, Josh, and Amy. He taught his children how to be respectful, how to work on their own vehicles, taking responsibility for their actions, to have fun, hunting, pulling trucks at the fair, to learn how to take teasing, to watch westerns and wrestling on tv, and to love and laugh through it all.

He had many catch phrases: Becky says he would say “whatever you want Bec”, or “bring me a cup of coffee”, grandkids say “don’t make me take my belt off’ which he never ever did, when people would ask about the movie or ask questions, “watch the movie Barb”, his mud running phrase was “go or blow”, hunting saying was “if it is brown it is down”, if a baby was crying it was always “that baby needs its diaper changed” to name just a few of his phrases.

He has 10 beautiful grandchildren: Halley, Joshua, Braxton, Bradley (Haleigh Barber), Braden, Bryden, Soleil, Chloe, Carson, and Harmony. Most of the older grandkids are wondering now who is going to fix their cars or who will pick them up when their car breaks down. He always would lend a helping hand if they needed anything. He has 4 great grandchildren: Haidyn, Taitym, Novah, and Liam.

He was preceded in death by his father Carl Wilson Sr., mother Betty Wilson, sister Faye Wilson, sister-in-law Sherry Herdman, and his father and mother-in-law Richard and Doris Swanson.

He is survived by his wife Becky Wilson. His children Carl Wilson (Christina Rose), Josh (Amy) Wilson, and Amy (Tom) Bailey. He is survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers and sister Mary Wilson (Craig Fife), Mike (Diann) Wilson, Andy (Phillis) Wilson, Jimmy (Gerry) Wilson. He is survived by his brother and sisters-in-law Richard (Tina) Swanson, John (Lisa) Swanson, David Swanson, and Chris (Shelly) Swanson. Also survived by Randy and Betty Lee and Joe and Rufena Hartford. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews and long time friend, Dave and Sherri Norville.

He battled cancer for five years, fighting it every step of the way, finding his healing in Heaven. He lived his life being strong for his family and helping and loving others.

Please join us in celebrating his life at the Rutland Church of the Nazarene fellowship hall on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, at 2:00p.m. with John Swanson officiating. We will have a motorcycle ride to follow in honor of Carl (weather permitting).
