Linda Joyce (Johnson) Ihle, of New Haven, WV, went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness on December 23, 2024, at OSU in Columbus, OH. She was 77 years old.
Linda was born on July 1, 1947, to Harold Edgar and Stella Frances (Roach) Johnson of Letart, WV. For 58 years, she was the honorable wife of Edward Ray Ihle, who preceded her in death. Also preceding Linda in death: her loving sisters-in-law, Diane (Queen) Johnson of Point Pleasant, Karen Lynn “Prudy” (Theiss) Johnson, her resilient daughter Donna Rae (Ihle) Grimm of Letart, and her beloved brother Harold "David" Johnson of Racine.
A sacrificial mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Linda's legacy will live forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her charismatic daughter Debra (Scott) Miller of New Haven, her dedicated grandchildren, Tasha (Joshua) Byer of New Haven, Jonah (Heather) Boswell of West Columbia, Adriana Boswell (Steven Gibbs) of Letart, and her loving great-grandchildren Logan Ray, Jacob Allen, Joslyn Amelia, and Paige AnnMarie.
Also surviving Linda are her brothers: Steve (Judy) Johnson of Point Pleasant, Richard (Lori) Johnson of Racine, Diana (Michael) Rucker of Gibbstown; Barbara Chapman of Syracuse; special in-laws: Betty Jo (Randy) Lee of Rutland, Jim (Tracy) Ihle of Ravenswood, and Russell (Ruth) Robinson of Pomeroy. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special brothers and sisters in Christ.
A devoted Christian, Linda was a member of several churches in the bend area over the years, including Broadrun Church, Fathers House Church, and Fairview Baptist Church. Her faith guided her in all aspects of her life, she served the Lord all of her life and trusted Him. She shared her love and faith in God with all those around her, inspiring all with her kindness, compassion, and forgiveness.
Linda dedicated her life to caring for others. First as a retired STNA from Overbrook Rehabilitation Center then later in her home, where her nurturing spirit overflowed into the lives of everyone around her. She was dedicated to caring for, guiding, and loving all her family beyond measure. Her selflessness and compassion were evident in everything she did, and her family lovingly returned that care to her in her later years.
Her great-grandchildren brought immense joy to her life, as she did theirs. Whether it be by traveling to new destinations together or simply by listening to their adventures; every interaction ended with laughter, smiles, and hugs. Being a staple in their everyday lives, watching them grow up and ensuring that they were happy and felt loved and safe gave their "nana" peace of mind and uplifted her heart and spirit.
In lieu of a funeral, a Celebration Of Life will be held at the Grace Baptist Church fellowship hall on January 11, 2025, at 2pm in Point Pleasant, WV.
Linda Joyce will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her unwavering love, faith and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of all who knew her.
"She made life much sweeter because of her smile."
