Diane Jean Bittner, 93, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away peacefully Friday, February 24, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born November 2, 1929 in Geneva, Ohio, daughter of the late Vaughn and Geraldine Edna (Champion) Clark. Her parents named her after a popular song of the time, “My Diane”.

She married Charles Francis “Chuck” Bittner May 28, 1949 in Painesville, Ohio and later lived in St. Petersburg, Florida, Moundsville, West Virginia, Colerain, Ohio and Gallipolis, Ohio. Diane loved being a mother to her four children and she also cared for many other children over the years.

She is survived by their son, Charles and his wife, Carol and daughters: Jacqueline Diane “Jackie” Spencer and her husband, Bobby and Mary Delores “Lori” Saxon and her husband, Brett. She was blessed to have seven grandchildren: Correy, Joshua, Dustin, Luke, Tessa, Bryce and Kirk and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Diane was preceded in death by a son, Mark and sister, Geraldine.

The family would like to give special Thanks to Dr. Marazon, Holzer Emergency Room Staff, the Cardiac Care Unit Staff and Holzer Hospice Staff.

She will be laid to rest together with Charles in Largo, Florida. The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio is honored to handle the local arrangements for the Bittner Family.

Diane was an avid reader and a familiar face to the local library staff. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her honor and memory to the Bossard Memorial Library, 7 Spruce Street Gallipolis, OH 45631.
