Mary L. Shuler, 91, of Racine, passed away, at 7:25 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, in the Overbrook Center, Middleport. Born February 22, 1931, in Racine, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Gretta Howell Simpson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Racine United Methodist Church where she played the piano, was the director of the choir, and taught Sunday School. She was also a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of seventy-three years, Ernest M. Shuler, daughters, Margie Pierce, of Nelsonville, and Terri (Doug) Powell, of Racine, sons, Stephen (Wanda) Shuler, Kenneth Shuler, and David (Carla) Shuler, all of Racine, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. A sister, Lillian Hayman, of Racine, a brother-in-law, Lynn (Karen) Shuler, of Tuppers Plains, a sister-in-law, Shirley Simpson, of Racine, and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald “Smoke” Simpson, and Calvin “Bud” Simpson, a brother-in-law, Clarence Shuler.
A visitation will be held from 3-5 pm. on Sunday, July 24, 2022, in the Racine United Methodist Church. Private services will be held at a later date. The Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine is entrusted with the arrangements.
