Accordm& to the eatllnate oC Annabelle Diamond of the Populatio~ Referepee Burea11, 77 billion babies hne been

Rhodes has · taken the position
Ohio can develop its own ·i)r~
grams nnd has called a meeting of representatives r r 0 m
the counties to a meeting in
Athens, April 24, at Ohio University, to discuss the matter.
He expressed an interest in any
highway programs.
NEW CONCEPT
Roosevelt said the program
is "quite a departure" from
traditional programs Under
which the states worked with
the existing separate federal
agencies, which he said Rhodes
had expressed a hope of doing,
He said the Appalachia program envisions building highways to move people ·and goods
without regard to volume of
traffic, the basis for ~resent
highway construction.
"That road will end at the
Ohio line because of a lack of
co-operation on Ohio's part,''
Roosevelt said.
He saw the "developmfntal
highways" as the Appalachia
roads will be called as moving
timber and lumber praducu and
promoting tourist trade.
