Bills that President Bush vetoed on abortion, parental leave and campaign reform are being resurrected for Clinton's Signature.
The Ill\> priority, though, clearly is the ecooomy.
ThroWlllg out Bush, disillusioned voters made the electi011 a referendum on his Iaclt of attention to problems at home and innbility to ease
anxiety about the economy.
An Election Day poll or voters found that nearly 80 pen:ent said the
economy was not in good shape, and they vote<! overwhelmingly for Clinton.
The b31lsfer of power wiU be aocompanied by a genentional shakeup,
as the 68-year-old Bush is replaced by the 46-year-olcl Clinton, the fii'St
baby boomer in the White House. Clinton said his mandate was to
"restore J!Owth IP our counlry and opportunity to our people."
Clinton needs to move swifUy to make his priorities clear and set dead·
lines for achieving them. The appointment of his edlnomic advisers and
secrelllries of defense and state will send important signals to fmancial
mad:;ets and .world leaders.

cornnilanent 01 Meigs County over
riially years. Bruce Reed, SBORC
board member, p-esented the award
to Davis.
A native of Meigs County,
Davis has been in the business of
selling new and refurbished buses
for 40 years. ,The bllsiness was
started m 1941 by his father, the
late Edwin H. Davis, and has operated continuously since then with
die exception of a few years during
World War II.
.
Currently Davis employs nine
full-time and several part-time
local workers in the bus business
which serves 40 counties in Ohio.
His business is not restricted to
Ohio, however. Davis says he bas
shiJlllcd buses to Peru, Mexico and

HaiU.
.
In a good year, Davis said that

his company will sell 200 new
buses. This year with the bad economic climate, sales of new buses
are down but sales of used buses
are up.
Davis says he is now planning
to construCt four new bays and put
on two or three additional employees. Currently be said they have
enough work to last until March.
